What works for us as experienced riders and what doesn't. Then we hit the trails for more basics: brake hovering, standing up, looking ahead on the trail and having a grand ol' time.

Today we are chatting chamois (or shammies, or bike undies) and bike seats. We will be measuring your sit bones to get you comfortable on your ride and focused on the trail. The lesson focuses on positions we use while riding along, doing something technical and climbing - achieving balance throughout instability!

Come out with your garden tools, protective clothing and some enthusiasm and let's get digging and become trail stewards for our community!

We love supporting our local trail association (Edmonton Mountain Bike Association EMBA) and working alongside our fellow lady bike community groups (Women on Wheels, Cranky's and so many more). You don't need to be a member of any group, come out and join us! 

What to eat before, during and after a ride - will someone please tell me? We got you - we have nutrition experts join us for the ride and chat about what your body needs to perform at its best (please tell me its Sour Patch kids). AND WE GOT SAMPLES! Then we head to some new trails to practice bike positions (drill those in there), where to look when biking and line choice.

Casey Brown is insanely fast on a bicycle. And we're going to learn step 1 on how to get faster - so we can go just as fast as she can. So for this ride, we're chatting about how to do that: getting faster on flat trails, corners, jumps, tight trees, long bridges and climbs. All while under control and planning our next move.

Flat tires suck, but today we're learning how to identify what size your wheels are, how to pick the right tube and how to fix your own flat, out in a real life situation (not a bike shop or your garage). We will chat valves, the tools you'll need and the technique to make it as simple as possible. So flex those muscles and tackle this simple fix to get you back shredding!

Edmonton has an amazing amount of cross-country (xc) trails for such an urban city. The river valley has bred a unique style of trails: lots of punchy, steep climbs and technical short descents. It's why some amazing riders come from the YEG!  Let's learn how to tackle these steep (but short!) climbs with proven techniques so you can enjoy the trails in town and even.... enjoy the challenge and find the flow!

Those Edmonton punchy climbs have met their match! Like last week, we talk technical climbing to get up those tricky ups (with lots of practice!) and then have some tricks about how to progressively go faster down trails (especially ones with pesky corners in the middle), confident in your ability to stay in control. And then we focus on another important part of mountain biking: post-ride beers! 

So find your flow on the ups and downs and then celebrate with pub snacks and drink on us!

Learn how to properly wash and care for your bike in United Sport & Cycle's bike wash bay (just for us!), and then we head to the funnest place on earth: the pump track! Here we learn about how to push into the bike and absorb when the bike pushes back. Sounds tricky but comes more naturally than you'd think! The best day!

Dancing is great. Biking is also great. Lets combine the two, moving fluidly on our bike and beginning to steer the bike with our centre of gravity rather than steering with our arms/handlebars. Using those lady hips and our eyeballs, we learn how to dance down the trail.

Its finally time for our 4th annual ice cream crawl. We tackle trails on the way to a local ice cream shop and then head back on trails and stop to tackle a tricky feature: stairs!  Fueled by sprinkles, we ride down some beginner and more advanced wooden stairs in the river valley!

Bobsled and BackBreaker: - some of our most downhill trails in Edmonton. We park ourselves here and lap these trail all evening. These laps help you to get comfortable and pushing your fears with respect to speed or new lines down this fun trail. 

At the end, we're lead through cycling specific stretches to ease those tight muscles and get us ready for our next bike adventure!

Drive trains - its what moves your bike forward when you push on the pedals and is an integral system on the bike. So let's learn how it works, how to troubleshoot on the trail when issues come up and how to take care of all the parts throughout the season.

Suspension is a huge (and expensive) component of our bicycles. Learn about how the different kinds of suspension work, how to adjust your suspension for the trails you are riding and how to maintain and care for your suspension to keep is smooth and plush.
