About the event
This one-day clinic is open to the public, but ladies only please.
So what happens at this clinic? We get to know our bikes - all the important parts and how to make it a comfortable bike for you. We learn about the main body positions when biking down a trail- and why they make sense (time for a little physics!). We play some balance games to get a feel of our range of motion. Then we get into all the handlebar bits: brake and gearing. This is all translated on the trail as we head out for a fun ride at the end of the day.
This clinic is 3 hours long. All instructors are certified instructors via Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association (Level 1). Groups numbers are determined via safety ratios, but will be no more than 1 instructor to 7 gals. Waivers and other forms must be completed when you arrive at the clinic. No signed waivers = no clinic. NO EXCEPTIONS! A COVID-19 agreement and a physical acitvity assessment and a photo consent will also be provided to sign.
Ability levels: This is the place to be if you are new to our favourite sport or if you already know how much fun you can have on a bike, and looking to improve. Generally beginner beginners to early intermediates. The terrain will move from gravel path to the smaller 'single-track' trails and adapt to the ability of everyone that attends. No one gets left behind.
Please be prepared with a working mountain bike, weather appropriate clothing, a helmet, a bell, gloves, closed toed shoes, a snack, water and a super rad attitude :) If you need to rent a mountain bike, reach out and we can help to set you up with one of United Cycle's Trek fleet!
Our COVID-19 modifications requre that all participants (including coaches) self-screen for symptoms prior to attending, wash their hands, disinfect their bikes and wear a cloth mask or a buff. Coaches will avoid touching you and your bike as much as possible to prevent cross-contamination. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant will be available.
We also recommend stiff bike shoes, flat pedals, light/clear lens glasses, tire pump, tube and levers (if you have them!)
Cancellation policy: Event will be canceled at 10AM the morning of the event if weather is deemed unsafe or our actions will cause an unacceptable level of damage to the trails. Event will be cancelled at any point during the clinic if lightening is observed. A 50% refund will be offered in the case of a weather cancelation. Otherwise, 100% refund within 7 days of purchase, 50% refund before June 5th, no refunds after June 5th.
