About the event
In this clinic, we learn to move separately from the bike and how to direct the bike with our hips (whhhHHhoOoaa). This leads to fast corners and better bike control. These and more cornering techniques will be introduced and practiced to get us working with the trails to gain momentum and efficiency in our riding. Then out come the stunts to work on roll downs (where the trail drops away) in progressive steps to get you feeling confident. Then its air time! First on grass to get position and timing, then learning how momentum and pressure come into play.Â
This clinic is appropriate for riders who have experience on their mountain bikes, but are looking for a challenge to improve their skills and bike handling while getting faster! Â Generally experienced intermediate to strong intermediate riders (must be 18+) would benefit most from this clinic. Â In order to progress to bigger stunts, you will need to get the go-ahead from our coaches by demonstrating mastery of necessary foundational skills.Â
This one-day clinic is open to the public, all genders welcome! Clinic activities are located in Capilano park and not on trails, so no one is left behind and you can always take a break if needed.Â
This clinic is 3.5 hours long and all instructors are certified instructors via PMBI or BICP certifications. Groups numbers are determined via safety ratios, but will be no more than 1 instructor to 7 participants. Waivers will be administered electronically prior to the event.Â
BRING: a working mountain bike, helmet, weather appropriate clothing, stiff soled shoes (closed toe), bell, gloves, water, personal snack, flat pedals*, super rad attitude :)
* Flat pedals become especially important for proper technique when jumping. No clips please. Contact us if you have strong feelings about this! We can chat about a solution.Â
If you have equipment/access to equipment that makes you more comfortable on bigger features (knee pads, elbow pads, full face helmets), bring them along. As we are in one location, you can put them to the side, wearing them when you want.Â
Cancellation policy: Event will be canceled at 10AM the morning of the event if the weather is deemed unsafe or our actions will cause an unacceptable level of damage to the green space. Â Event will be cancelled at any point during the clinic if lightening is observed. A 50% refund will be offered in the case of a weather cancelation. Otherwise, 100% refund within 7 days of purchase, 50% refund before July 2nd, no refunds on/after July 2nd.
