Biking 101 Clinic
A clinic aimed at beginner beginners. Covering bike positions, balancing, gearing and braking to get you more comfortable on your trusty steed.
Time & Location
Jun 11, 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. MDT
Edmonton, Capilano Park Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T6A 3R7, Canada
This one-day clinic is open to the public. If you are female or non-binary, know you are welcome.
During this clinic, we get to know our bikes - all the important parts and how to adjust your bike to fit your awesome body. We learn about the main body positions when biking down a trail- and why they make sense (time for a little physics!). We play some balance games to get a feel of our range of motion. Then we get into all the handlebar bits: brakes and gearing.
This clinic is 3.5 hours long. All instructors are certified mountain bike instructors via Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association or Bicycle Instructor Certification Program. Groups numbers are determined via safety ratios, but will be no more than 1 instructor to 7 participants. Waivers will be administered electronically prior to the event.
Ability levels: This is the place to be if you are new to our favourite sport or if you already know how much fun you can have on a bike, and looking to improve with instruction. Generally beginner beginners to early intermediates, especially if you have never had a lesson. Must be 18+. The terrain will move from gravel path to the smaller 'single-track' trails for some lessons and adapt to the ability of everyone that attends. Like all SheShreds rides, no one gets left behind.
Please be prepared with a working mountain bike, weather appropriate clothing, a helmet, a bell, gloves, closed toed shoes, a snack, water and a super rad attitude :) We also recommend stiff soled shoes, flat pedals, light/clear lens glasses, tire pump, tube and levers (if you have them!) We also recommend having a bike mechanic look over your bike prior to attending, especially if your bike has been in the garage all winter!
Cancellation policy: Event will be canceled at 10AM the morning of the event if weather is deemed unsafe or our actions will cause an unacceptable level of damage to the trails. Event will be cancelled at any point during the clinic if lightening is observed. A 50% refund will be offered in the case of a weather cancelation. Otherwise, 100% refund within 7 days of purchase, 50% refund before May 28th (14 days before the clinic date), no refunds on/after May 29th 2022.
