Biking 102 Clinic
A clinic aimed at strong beginners to intermediates. We review foundational skills, then add in some techniques to conquer more intermediate trails!
Time & Location
Aug 28, 11:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. MDT
Capilano Park, Capilano Park Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T6A 3R7, Canada
This one-day clinic is open to the public. If you are female or non-binary, know you are welcome.
During this clinic, we review the positions, gearing and braking components of Biking 101 for those who have never had a lesson and to tweak those who have had a lesson. Then we go further: wheel lifts, climbing strategies and descending techniques. We go on a small trail ride to session and put the techniques to work, sessioning and riding.
This clinic is 3.5 hours long. All instructors are certified mountain bike instructors via Professional Mountain Bike Instructors Association or Bicycle Instructor Certification Program. Groups numbers are determined via safety ratios, but will be no more than 1 instructor to 7 participants. Waivers will be administered electronically prior to the event.
Ability levels: Generally beginner beginners to early intermediates, especially if you have had a bike lesson before. The terrain will move from gravel path to the smaller 'single-track' trails for some sessioning of features relevant to the lesson (log roll-overs, climbs and steeper descents). Like all SheShreds events, no one gets left behind.
Please be prepared with a working mountain bike, weather appropriate clothing, a helmet, a bell, gloves, closed toed shoes, a snack, water and a super rad attitude :) We also recommend stiff soled shoes, flat pedals, light/clear lens glasses, tire pump, tube and levers (if you have them!) We also recommend having a bike mechanic look over your bike prior to attending, especially if your bike has been in the garage all winter!
Cancellation policy: Event will be canceled at 10 AM the morning of the event if weather is deemed unsafe or our actions will cause an unacceptable level of damage to the trails. Event will be cancelled at any point during the clinic if lightening is observed. A 50% refund will be offered in the case of a weather cancelation. Otherwise, 100% refund within 7 days of purchase, 50% refund before August 16th (14 days before the clinic date), no refunds on/after August 16th 2022.
